Guides: castings, grades and buying
These guides explain the heat-resistant castings we make, the grades they are cast in and how to buy them. Each one answers the questions plant engineers and buyers bring to us, with the published sources listed at the end.

Which guides cover furnace castings and buying?
Five so far. Two map the castings in fired heaters, heat-treatment furnaces and galvanizing lines, one covers sinter grate bars, one compares HK40 with HP-Nb, and one lists what we need to quote.
- Reformer and radiant furnace castingsWhat each furnace casting does, how it fails and which grade is usually specified.
- Furnace rolls, radiant tubes and pot rollsHearth rolls, skid riders, U and W tubes, trays, baskets and galvanizing pot hardware.
- Sinter grate bars and pallet partsGrate bars, side walls, pallet bodies and chain links: what fails and why.
- HK40 vs HP-NbWhich grade for furnace tubes and fittings, side by side.
- What we need to quote a castingThe enquiry checklist, and what to send when there is no drawing.
Which grades have their own page?
HK40, HP-Nb, 50Cr-50Ni-Nb, HH/HT/HU, CF8M, cobalt alloys and wear irons. Each page gives the composition from the published standard, the equivalents, typical uses, how the grade fails in service and an RFQ checklist.
- HK4025Cr-20Ni cast grade for supports, hangers, tube sheets and older tubes.
- HP-Nb and microalloyed HP25Cr-35Ni-Nb for furnace tubes, coils and hot fittings.
- 50Cr-50Ni-NbIN657-type grade for hangers and supports in fuel-ash service.
- HH, HT and HUHeat-resistant grades for trays, fixtures, rolls and radiant tubes.
- CF8MCast 316 stainless for corrosive service.
- Cobalt alloysStellite-type and UMCo grades for skid riders and pot hardware.
- Wear ironsHigh-chrome white iron and Ni-hard for abrasion.
For every grade we cast, see the alloy grade reference. To price a part, send us a drawing or photos.
